The Al Khaleej newspaper talked about the traditional food that represents the culture of the United Arab Emirates. These traditional foods are still in great demand due to the way they are prepared and the diversity of tastes in them. The main dish that the UAE is famous for is the meat or fish served with rice. People eat this dish more often and could be served on many occasions and at weddings. However, the newspaper mentioned how some of the traditional foods are made, such as riqaq bread which is basically a soft dough that is spread on a flat pan and left on a low heat to mature and dry completely. This bread is used to make thareed and can be eaten with some fat or sugar.  In the UAE, there are many types of bread. In addition to tortillas, there is khameer bread, which is a dough and dates that are mashed in water, and the dough is simplified in the form of pancake-like circles. Bread is eaten with almost everything.  Thareed is a dish made of riqaq bread that is impregnated with meat or chicken broth, where the bread is cut into small pieces and the broth is poured over it in the form of layers, and then the pieces of meat and vegetables are placed on top of the dish.
